Improving Ukrainian Military Meals in Action

Borscht Collective is a volunteer initiative that’s changing the approach to food on the frontline. It was founded by Oleksii Vykhrenko, callsign “Yogurt” — the head cook of one of the units of the 47th Brigade.

The idea is simple:

Collect decommissioned kitchen equipment from restaurants and use it to assemble full-fledged field kitchens — the kind that can cook almost restaurant-level meals, even in wartime conditions.

Thanks to these kitchens, the soldiers get not just food, but real home-style dishes. The idea is ambitious — to provide the entire brigade, and later other units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Because tasty food is not just about calories. It’s about care. About morale. About a sense of home where it’s needed the most."
